Our Process

We offer several size buckets and mining rough mixes to help you craft the ultimate treasure-hunting experience.  Each bucket is hand-assembled to ensure a high-quality, consistent experience each time.  We buy our rocks by the ton, literally, from all over the world.  Because of our incredible buying power and commitment to excellence, we can offer you the highest quality bucket at the greatest value.  Our prices, value, and quality simply cannot be beaten!

As our store closes at 5:00, please note that the last bucket of mining rough, to be used in-store on our sluice, is sold by 4:30 pm daily.  We encourage you to plan your visit accordingly.  

Or take it home!  All of our mining rough buckets are available in to-go bags!  Add a plastic sand-sifter for only $2.50.

Beachcomber Bucket – $13

Megalodon Bucket – $29

The Megalodon Bucket is a super-sized Beachcomber containing a greater variety and quantity of shells, fossilized shark teeth, a Mosasaur tooth, and an authentic, partial mini-Megalodon tooth. 

Limited Edition – Shark Tooth Bucket

This treasure-rich bucket is offered as a limited edition run, it can be produced only when the fossil material is available.  Get yours before they’re gone! 

Shark Quest Bucket – $85

This limited edition bucket is our richest fossil paydirt yet!  Each bucket is packed with fossilized shark teeth, whole and partials, from the Megalodon, Sand Tiger Sharks, and a variety of other prehistoric shark species that may include the Great White, the Chubutensis, Angustidens, Mako, Snaggletooth, and extinct Tiger Sharks.  It also contains fossils from other marine life, including sea turtles, sting rays, and whales. This bucket is the ultimate quest for any shark tooth fossil fan!  

Fossil Bucket

Available in one size only, our curated fossil bucket contains marine life fossils. You may find coral, bits of crinoids, brachiopods, bivalves, ammonites, gastropods, bone, shark teeth, and other prehistoric treasures.  Some of our fossils can be viewed on our Shell & Fossil Identification page

Crack-Your-Own Geodes

Select your favorite geode and crack it open using our machine, the Kraken!  We custom-designed and built the Kraken to create an interactive and safe way to open your geode.

We currently offer the following geode varieties:  

  • Quartz Geodes ($10) have clear quartz crystals inside, commonly referred to as “sugar crystals” due to their delicate structure and sparkle. 
  • Trancas Geodes ($12 to $18) have chalcedony, agate, quartz, or calcite crystals inside.
  • Crystal Canyon Geodes ($12) contain crystalline quartz points.  
  • Bravo Geodes ($16) may contain a mixture of agate, druzy chalcedony, and quartz crystals. 

 

Gold Panning – To-Go Only

This activity is not offered in the store and is only available to-go. Pan for real gold!  Purchase a bag of concentrated paydirt ($14) and pan for real gold. Each hand-assembled bag contains 6 teensy-tiny, but real, gold flakes!  With each purchase, you will receive a glass vial to store your gold flakes. Please note the prospecting pan or shallow bowl is required to pan for gold.
